How to create a daily plan for your social media!

Updated: Jul 2, 2020

Figuring out what to post every day, where to post, and when to post, is all part of your daily planning when it comes to your social media accounts.

But with so many accounts how can I possibly hit every single one at least 2-3 times per day, and also even more for some of my accounts? Well, that my friend is what I am here to tell you.

Why it's important to have this scheduled?

It's important to have a daily schedule that works around your actual schedule. There should be a time slot that is dedicated to doing this, I always recommend this to be one of your first tasks of the morning. Set aside an hour or two and really focus on scheduling content.

Almost every social media account allows you to schedule your content, whether that's the same day or within the next few days coming. There are some apps you can use to auto-schedule these if those options are not available for you directly through the app.

But let's start with determining what social media accounts we should be on.

What social media accounts should I focus on?

Instagram, Facebook, Tumblr, Youtube, Twitter, Pinterest, TikTok, and many other platforms connect users with common interests connect with you on a forum where you can showcase your content and get more traffic to your website or sales funnel.

Firstly, you need to figure out who your audience is, once you figure out that, then you can figure out where your audience actually is. So for my audience, instead of Instagram, there's more bloggers and educators on Pinterest. As well as Youtube, youtube is a huge platform for bloggers, educators, and coaches. Twitter and Instagram, are great don't get me wrong, but I find that they are both not generating much traffic outside of my social accounts.

So you really can't tell which one will work for you and which ones won't work for you but you can try focusing on two social media accounts at once and then if those aren't generating traffic for you, focus on a different social media account.

As you are testing which social profiles work better for you, also be sure to focus on staying consistent, consistently posting to a site is the only way to truly gain an audience, and get your first 1000 fans. So give at least 30 days or so before you move on from one site to another.

What I personally recommend! I recommend when first starting to try and work on multiple social media accounts at once, just post less often. But always make sure to post your best content. So like I have a twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and a Facebook page. I know it's a lot but right now I just rebranded my site and am working on getting new traffic here. So I spend 30 minutes or so on each site daily and post the best content I possibly can each time.

I will go ahead and share my daily to-do list for every account I manage!

My morning social media routine!

1) 5-10 minutes planning the overall theme of the day!

2) 25 mins repinning pins, in all 5 mainboards.

3) 1 hr, creating new pins directly through Pinterest, 1st batch always pins to Your Blog Consultant.

4) 25 mins planned for scheduling tweets. I also check in throughout the day on my breaks and lunches to create more evergreen content.

5) 30 minutes plan 8 am Instagram post, and post it through the Instagram app and post am Morning story. post throughout the day on my breaks.

6) 20 minutes, sharing posts on Facebook and planning posts for the day usually 2-3 posts.

7) 35 minutes spent throughout the day updating stories on Facebook and Instagram and posting random posts.

8) 20-25 minutes per day growing my TikTok account (occasional posts)

Let's break this down a little more!

1) 5-10 minutes planning the overall theme of the day!

Depending on what my overall plan for that day is I will carefully choose a theme of the day. Typically, on a Monday, I'll do something simple like #motivationalmonday. On Tuesday, I usually always do #tipstuesday, and then for the rest of the week, I either share a blog post, and based on that post that'll be the overall them or I'll reshare or repurpose old content.

When I begin this step I usually also create my social media template, for the day, like I use a theme and then change up the images or the words on the image, using Visme, or Canva.

I do this step ^ here so that I can save a lot of time when I am creating my posts for the day, it makes all the rest of the steps go way faster.

2) 25 mins repinning pins, in all 5 mainboards.

When I created my Pinterest I create 5 main category boards to have on my Pinterest account. I did this simply by following the setup directions when creating my Pinterest account.

These are the categories or pillar content I chose as an overall reoccurring theme for my blog and my website. As well as all my social media accounts, I would highly recommend setting all this up before ever posting or creating your accounts. It helps you determine your social media calendar setup!

3) 1 hr, creating new pins directly through Pinterest, 1st batch always pins to Your Blog Consultant.

Using the templates I created in step 1, I will now create Pinterest Pins for the Pins I am posting for the day. Sometimes I just reuse the original pins I created. But most of the time I batch create the ones I will be using that day I do that because I like to have a multitude of content that I can repurpose in the future, when I am not actively writing every day.

By using Visme and Canva I can quickly create multiple Pins at once. In an hour I can sometimes create 20 plus pins, but typically I create about 10-15. Including the captions and the headlines.

I ensure I am writing this best content I use the headline tool in Coschedule to make sure I am constantly creating searchable content. Additionally, I may even use TubeBuddy because Youtube is much more of a search engine than any other app, well at least in my opinion. People use it much like they would use Google, so I'm making an educated guess that the keywords on Youtube are much like the keywords that are popular within Google.

4) 25 mins planned for scheduling tweets. I also check in throughout the day on my breaks and lunches to create more evergreen content.

I basically do a brain dump on Twitter and I schedule a bunch of posts using my CoSchedule app. Pinterest is much like an open forum where you post quick random thoughts. So basically I take "quotes" plus my thoughts on any of my posts that I will be mentioning for the week. & then I quickly schedule them.

It's super easy using CoSchedule to schedule posts for twitter and for Pinterest as well. However, it's really easy to post to much through that platform, and when you do that you can get banned from posting using Coschedule, and you don't want that. So they and organically post and schedule all at once.

Throughout the day like on my lunch breaks and on my work breaks I also post my random thoughts into tweets as well, and I like to do those LIVE on twitters website or in the app because I don't want to not be a REAL person on there. Usually, during these random weird bits of time I'll share a photo of the food I am eating, or maybe take a photo of something I am working on work-related or maybe about fashion etc, can be totally random.

5) 30 minutes plan 8 am Instagram post, and post it through the Instagram app and post am Morning story. post throughout the day on my breaks.

I only post one time to my actual news feed each day on Instagram. And I honestly don't post that much anymore, now that my later app doesn't work with it. Later, it is a great app for scheduling Instagram posts, but I have no idea what happened to my access because I am no longer allowed to auto-post using the app so that really sucks! But it was great while it lasted. So now I post one time a day and that is at 8 am, almost on the dot every single day.

I usually always post around that time and I recently stopped and realized that was a bad move because now I am losing followers so I will definitely be back on my Instagram posting spree soon.

I may just start posting a selfie outfit of what I am wearing to work from home and just keep that theme every day, I am not sure. I think I am really over complicating things. Plus my selfies usually get a lot of love on them.

6) 20 minutes, sharing posts on Facebook and planning posts for the day usually 2-3 posts.

Facebook is a lot of fun but it takes a lot of work and consistency. And you usually have to spend a little money to start really getting attention because just sharing with your friends and family is not going to get you that far. You should share with your friends and family, and ask them to share with their friends as well.

That will create a lot more attention to your page as well so it'll quickly grow your numbers. Also, by creating a cheap ad campaign you can get quite a few quality leads or likes per day, depending on what your growth strategies are.

I really am liking facebook more that I am learning how to use it more. I go live on my direct sales pages to increase excitement for nails and other cosmetics I sale and that seems to draw a lot of attention. I highly recommend that.

Going live on Facebook, in general, is a great way to promote your business no matter what service you are in.

7) 35 minutes spent throughout the day updating stories on Facebook and Instagram and posting random posts.

Additionally, for Facebook and Instagram, I usually spend about 30-35 minutes each day just scrolling and commenting on things on Instagram and Facebook. It helps me seem authentic and helps me build a relationship with others.

So basically I just scroll and comment randomly but I comment thoughtfully I don't just comment anything. I write thoughtful comments that sometimes turn into many paragraphs.

I help myself from scrolling endlessly I only look at posts that are in hashtag groups that I am actively posting too. I feel like this somewhat ups the post.

8) 20-25 minutes per day growing my TikTok account (occasional posts)

Lastly, I get on my new secret weapon! TikTok!

Seriously you can make viral videos in just minutes that are well thought out and look great you can then use hashtags like #myfyp #fyp to get on the top of the charts.

I don't spend much time on the app though because I find myself wasting a lot of time on it endlessly scrolling if I don't keep up with my time on it.

Putting It All Together!

Ideally, I want to spend no more than 3 hours per day on social media accounts. I space the time within those 3 hours, but I get most of my stuff done first thing in the morning.

It kinda just makes the day flow a lot nicer and also leaves time for more productive activities.

If you can remember, create, collect, & submit, you can pretty much get the gist of what I do on my day to day activities.

Create content, collect URLs, photos, etc for individual submissions and submit great artwork with brilliantly laid of captions!
