How To: Establish Killer Competitive Marketing Goals

Updated: May 9, 2020

So, you’ve decided to start a small online business. You have all the tools to get started and you have selected your niche/market to practice in. But how do you organize all this and get all this stuff you planned done?

See what happens when people plan a business is, they usually get all caught up with how things need to look or how they are going to sell their products. They forget the most important part of it all, how am I going to present this to people, without people how will I reach my goals?

Unexpectedly enough if you can’t get people to your website you can’t make a sell or earn that ad commission.

Reminder to set smart goals using the smart method!

Goal setting, in general, can get overwhelming very quickly but I’ve got some easy tips you can use when creating your goals here. Stay tuned!

Step Numeral Uno (1): Take a few minutes, maybe 15, and really clear out your mind. I want you to think about practical business information. Some things to consider are how many per diem clients do you need to break even every month, have you added ads to your website, how have you monetized your site, etc.

After you’ve thought about some of those things, write them down, just start writing down things that come to mind after that. We’re doing a brain dump of business ideas. I want you to completely clear your mind, so we can focus only on goals in the next step.

Step 2: Compile your list. Look at everything you wrote you might see some practical goals, some harder to reach goals, and some far out in the distant goals. Once you have identified those goals go ahead and start writing those down freely. We will order them next.

Make sure to put action to the goals!

If you don’t it won’t really be an achievable goal it’ll be a goal with no cause.

Step 3: Analyze this list, now we are going to rank them upon the rank of how easy they are to obtain.

Smaller and quicker goals on top and then longer more time-consuming or far reachable items.

For example, if you need 1000 subscribers by the end of this month do you have to do a lot to obtain that or is that pretty simple for you?

Or if you have an end goal of complete financial freedom how much residual income does your blog have to generate success for that to happen?

If that’s a long way away then place it at the bottom, if you just need one good client maybe if more like in the middle of your goals. You decide it’s your list.

You should set both short term and long term goals as to make sure there is a clear understanding of what it to come first and what to be working forward to.

My sample list:

  1. Launch website for my business.

  2. Monetize Website

  3. Grow personal services but gaining clients

  4.  Rent a small business office where I can have clients meet me.

  5. Become well-known and specialized in skill, so I am well known to the public.

Step 4: Plan each goal into smaller micro-goals.

Most of your bigger goals are contributed by things you do in your daily activities and will determine a schedule you need to follow to complete your goals.

If becoming a freelance writer is your goal, you may want to start with a smaller goal to focus on like producing content every day or weekly.

And how to effectively monetize your site, even when your brand new.

If you are new my tip is to start by building an EASY to USE and EASY to navigate the site.

You don’t want anything to be over-complex to where you have to hire someone else to help you learn to use it.

You can build your site easily using WordPress and I suggest getting a blue host web-hosted blog because you can monetize right away by adding in some ads.

The way you could break down the goal of launching a business website is as follows:

  1. Create a header with logo

  2. Add widgets and sidebars

  3. Get affiliate ads with share a sale or other ad companies.

  4. Place ads on sidebars or widgets.

  5. Create an email signup form.

  6. Start creating content

  7. Publish blog

Well, it’s a little more complex than that I think you understand what I mean by breaking down each goal into small obtainable goals.

Step 5: Keep Going and Don’t Give Up

Forming your business goals can be quite time-consuming however, it’s the first step to being able to create a true marketing campaign.

I hope this finds you well.
